Welcome to the Scarcelight Newsletter http://scarcelight.org February 2006 /////////////////////// things look quiet, but are actually anything but...... still forthcoming: (SLR44) RAMESES III / TRUST RIOTS split 8" long-delayed ltd edition lathe cut should 'still' be out soon. i spoke with Peter King back in mid-January, and there was a slight delay due to the recent holidays, but was assured the records are being worked on. this release is pretty much sold out, but there are still a few pre-orders available. if you've pre-ordered one the your email is on file and you'll be contacted as soon as they are ready. a small review recently appeared in CMJ #137 noise column 'SKZZZ' http://cmj.com/articles/display_article.php?id=9047256 Bubbling from somewhere moody and pissed-off in Bham, AL the Trust Riots sound like your favorite Japanese psych band playing in a local dive bar, with a recording quality so low that it’s almost negligent. Their new split 8” with Rameses III, recorded for their own Scarcelight label, is like Fushitsusha on a four-track, peaking in distorted bursts of joy, but all confined in the comfy snuggle of lo-fi hiss. Totally unhinged in all the right ways. ++++ out MARCH 21st ++++ 061SCL - ACCELERA DECK. A Landslide of Stars CD this is a totally new incarnation of Accelera Deck, and of course we are very excited. Reception has been wonderful thus far. for a preview of songs please visit: myspace.com/acceleradeck about Accelera Deck:
Formed sometime mid 1996 as an outlet for the guitar and beat experiments of Chris Jeely. From 1997 till 2005 Jeely released 8 albums, and a handful of ltd edition 7", 12" and CDR's. Since 2003 He has played live up and down the East Coast of the United States. Anyone familiar with the Accelera Deck discography knows that Jeely is unafraid to try new things (witness 'Shadowland' from 2001, his totally acoustic album) and so it is that after nine years of solo work that Accelera Deck has become a band. Zach Evans plays drums, Jeely sings and plays guitar while creating his usual damaged guitar tones, and caustic melodies via computer. So what will all this sound like ? Jeely says 'it sounds just like it should', Evans has called it 'fire-rock' and 'blast-drone'..... no matter what you call it Evans and Jeely have created a pretty unique sound by combining some really simple elements into a whole that is larger than the sum of its parts. the first 500 copies of this release feature some striking artwork, orange sleeves with copper text. 2nd edition will NOT be copper. printed courtesy of Jeff Prosser A Landslide of Stars tour dates, April 2006 04.01 - Roanoke, VA @ venue TBA 04.02 - Richmond, VA @ Artworks 04.03 - Washington, DC @ DC9 04.04 - Charlottsville, VA @ Dust 04.05 - Baltimore, MD @ Library of Progress 04.07 - New York, NY @ Siberia 04.08 - New York, NY @ venue TBA 04.09 - Somerville, MA @ PA's Lounge 04.10 - Providence, RI @ AS220 04.12 - Hamilton, ON @ House Show 04.13 - Meadville, PA @ Allegheny College coffee shop 04.14 - Pittsburgh, PA @ Garfield Artworks 04.15 - Detroit, MI @ Behind Henry The Hatter * Garage Space 04.16 - Grand Rapids, MI @ the daac * Hamtramck location =============== previously announced CDR releases are being reconfigured, possibly as splits.
