(SLR34) - FREIBAND. {flying} 3"CD
Freiband is the latest project by Frans de Waard
(also founding member of Kapotte Muziek, Beequeen, 
Goem). Freiband was inspired by the tape-scratching 
of Asmus Tietchens on his CD 'Daseinsverfehlung', 
but here applied to an entirely digital context by 
scratching the harddisc. The result is warm, glitchy 
popmusic; that is, music made out of popping sounds. 
On the second Freiband CD 'Homeward' (Bottrop-Boy), 
the favourite popsongs of De Waard from the late 70's
and early 80's received a similar treatment. Around 
the same time, he took the idea a little bit further, 
using one song to make eight different tracks out of 
it. More than appropiate Frans has taken the greatest 
pop music group, The Beatles, and given their lone 
instrumental"Flying" the Freiband treatment. The 
effect is an enrapturing collection of songs awash in 
a metallic sheen, each one minimal in nature, that 
distill the essence of psychedelia through modern 
electronics. '{flying}' completes the recycling of 
popmusic by Freiband.

artwork is a beautiful full color vellum sleeve, w/
color scheme inspired by the Beatle's album 
'Magical Mystery Tour'

Violet will be doing a mini-tour of Europe in late March in support 
of the forthcoming 3"CD on Scarcelight. details shortly

The Teenbeat Records sensation, Eggs will be playing two "reunion" 
shows. One in New York, and one in Washington DC.
So how do Eggs relate to Scarcelight? Well, John Rickman of EBSK 
[who are responsible for (SLR15)] is the drummer. So now you know.

Evol's new album should be out anytime now on Mego. We've been reporting
this for ages now, but really it is totally worth it! We've had a copy of 
the album for over a year and a half now, and it still is played regularly
Evol will be releasing another song culled from "Punaniland" on Scarcelight, 
which will be supported by a tour w/ Accelera Deck later this year.

Some computer problems have forced the long awaited Black Boned Angel 
album to wait a little longer, making patience a definte virtue. 

Scarcelight is working out details for a re-issue of some out of print
music by Beequeen. Nothing solid on 'what' will be reissued yet, but 
whatever it is will be digitally remastered. Big thanks to Freek and Frans
for the wonderful music!
