Welcome to the Scarcelight Newsletter http://scarcelight.org December thank you to everyone who has supported the label thus far, 2005 has been a great year. lots of news to report. so we'll get right to it in this months update: <1> mp3 samples, Floodlight catalog, thoughts on mp3 <2> release news (current titles) <3> forthcoming in 2006 <1> + Scarcelight now has mp3 samples of our CD releases available online, have a listen before you buy. MEGA RESTOCK of all our CDR releases + some new distributed items @ Floodlight http://scarcelight.org/floodlight/floodlight.html we are working on getting our releases available through some download shops, please stay tuned. in the meantime we humbly ask that if you've downloaded any scarcelight releases and like what you hear that you please purchase a copy direct so that we may continue releasing records, and put the money where it belongs; in the artists pocket. it has come to our attention that many small indie labels have had trouble with declining CD sales this year. this is unfortunate because the small labels are the ones who get caught in the middle. it's hard to tell if there is any correlation between increased downloading and CD sales, but we can state the fact that high CD prices are not a problem for us (or most small labels) our prices are $10 for full-length and $6.50 for ep's, that includes shipping to any US address. we offer discounts to folks who are buying more than 3 releases at a time. we would also like to make clear that the statement above in no way reflects that of any artist who has or will release a title for Scarcelight, and that the label has no 'official' opinion about downloading except to restate that if you like what you hear please support the artist and label by purchasing a 'hard copy'. Any of our artist statements made to the press concerning mp3 downloads are the artists own opinions. Questions concerning mp3 downloading will be politely declined. <2> + (SLR32) EBSK - Space 2003 / Deep Red 3"CDR is out now EBSK, a duo consisting of Eric Bruns (Clarinet, Bass Guitar) and John Rickman (Casio SK-1s, Casio SK-5s), have been bridging the indie-rock underground and the electronic listening crowd with their live shows up and down the east coast. Combining structured melody with a touch of sonic improvisation, the EBSK sound merges the aesthetics of ambient music with the potency of psychedelic free-rock.
